Lance Burnett struck out 10 and gave up just three hits in six innings Thursday as Carroll County’s baseball team celebrated Senior Day with a 6-2 Three Rivers District victory over Radford in Hillsville.

Burnett allowed just two runs and two walks and Cody Reece shut down the side in the seventh inning to secure the victory for the Cavaliers. Britt Berrier delivered two hits, drove in a run and scored another in the win for Carroll (12-4, 6-4 Three Rivers District).

Trailing 1-0 after two innings, the Cavaliers took the lead for good with a two-run third inning. Berrier reached on an error and later scored on an Avery Hart single to tie the game. Jack Meredith drew a bases-loaded walk to score Hart and putting Carroll in front 2-1.

Carroll added four runs in the fifth inning. Maddox Lyons and Burnett both singled and both later scored on passed balls. Mason Crockett added an RBI single and Berrier made it 6-2 with a run-scoring double.

Slade Quesenberry, Hart, Lyons, Cole Ward, Gage Nicholson, James Helmick and Mason Crockett each had a hit for Carroll in the victory.
