    Cucumber recall issued

Cucumbers in Illinois and 30 other states are being recalled after hundreds of people have reported illnesses linked to salmonella.

The CDC identified that 449 people were ill after eating salmonella-laden cucumbers and 125 people were hospitalized. No one has died from illnesses linked to the cucumbers.

One of the sources was linked to untreated canal water used by a grower in Florida.

Sinkhole impacted Alton park to reopen

Parts of an Alton park, which closed for nearly two months after a huge sinkhole formed, will finally reopen.

The soccer fields at Gordon Moore Park will remain closed, but the rest of the park reopened Friday morning. The massive sinkhole initially formed in the park June 26. Video footage captured the moment the sinkhole swallowed part of a soccer field, along with a light fixture.

    Mullet competition

A Springfield man is taking care of business in the front, but partying in the back.

Patrick Sosman has reached the final round in the adults category of the National Mullet Competition. If he wins, he will earn $5,000 and a GoPro camera.

Sosman, who started growing his mullet hairdo more than five years ago, recently won first place at the Illinois State Fair Mullet Championship.
