Fencing added after security breach at DNC

Work crews have added additional fencing near the site of the Democratic National Convention where protestors breached an area at the United Center Monday.

Video shows whole sections of snap-together iron fencing taken down and dragged away by protestors. Within minutes, Chicago police broke out riot gear and swarmed the area, arresting protestors trying to get inside the arena.

Late WTVP CEO accused of embesslement

Peoria police are revealing documents in their investigation of a former public television CEO and the embezzlement of a substantial amount of company funds.

The investigation revealed that the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office had sufficient evidence to charge Lesley Matuszak with embezzlement of funds from WTVP and forgery, but she took her own life in 2023.

Evidence suggested that Matuszak spent a total of $375,000 on a list of “questionable or improper credit card transactions” between November 2019 and September 2023.

KFC stores close in downstate Illinois

Several KFC fast food locations abruptly closed Monday in downstate Illinois.

An employee said he received a call from his corporate KFC district manager Monday regarding the permanent closure of the Washington location. KFC restaurants also closed in Peoria, Pekin and Bartonville.

There are currently 150 KFC locations in Illinois.
