Artstart, an organziation that creates art around Sonoma County, needs your help painting a new mural in the South Park neighborhood of Santa Rosa. The mural, which is funded by Santa Rosa’s Small Business Support Program, will appear on The Hattery, a local hat store. The Hattery is located at 1240 Petaluma Hill Road.
Three Men Arrested for Stealing a Tractor in Windsor
Three men are facing charges in connection to the theft of a tractor in Windsor. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested Refugio Carrillo, Rodrigo Lopez and Damian Rosales last week Monday. The three are accused of stealing a Kubota Skid Steer tractor last month along with some building materials. Police were patrolling Cross Creek Road in Santa Rosa when they spotted the stolen tractor.
Heat Advisory in Effect Today Through Sunday for Most of the Bay Area and Northern California
A dangerous new heat wave is hitting California this holiday week. The Excessive Heat Warning begins Tuesday and lasts through Sunday evening with many places baking in temperatures 20-degrees above average. Santa Rosa is set to reach a high of 106 degrees today. Napa is expected to reach a high of 104. Triple digit temperatures and very warm overnight lows are expected into the weekend in the North Bay mountains and interior valleys. The region is facing heightened wildfire risk due strong northerly winds and low humidity. Forecasters also warn heat stroke is a real possibility especially as millions in California plan to be outside celebrating the Fourth of July.
Bay Area group achieves impressive caking-baking (and donating) milestone
Since signing up in 2011 as a volunteer baker for Cake4Kids, Robin Wolfgram has baked more than 200 cakes. “I think the exact number might be 204,” Wolfram said. As impressive as that number is, though, it is just a small percentage (0.68%, to be exact) of all the cakes Cake4Kids volunteers have baked for Bay Area children since Libby Gruender founded the organization in Sunnyvale in 2010.
Power outage in the East Bay affecting thousands
Thousands in the East Bay are without power on Tuesday, according to PG&E. The power outage is affecting residents in Castro Valley, Pleasanton, San Ramon and Dublin. At least 11,214 residents are without power, and there is currently no estimated time for when power will be restored.
