Republican gubernatorial candidate Dave Reichert will be in Southwest Washington this weekend for the “Rally at the Ranch” in Toledo.

The visit by Reichert is at least the third he’s made to Lewis County in recent months after he attended a March fundraiser hosted by the Conservative Coalition of Lewis County and a June campaign event in Adna.

The event will be held at Merten Ranch, 1011 Tucker Road in Toledo. Doors will open at 4 p.m., and the event will begin at 6 p.m.

Reichert’s latest visit comes weeks after he advanced in the August primary to officially set up a race with Attorney General Bob Ferguson for governor. According to preliminary election results, Ferguson outpaced Reichert across the state, earning 44.94% of the vote compared to Reichert’s 27.48%.

Reichert found greater success in Lewis County with 53.88% of the vote, while Ferguson received 22.34%.

The former sheriff of King County, Reichert represented Washington’s Eighth Congressional District in Congress from 2005 to 2019. While on the campaign trail, Reichert has frequently referred to his career in law enforcement, telling a crowd at Adna High School in June that he hoped to bring them more support.

“Our cops need backup, and we’re going to be the backup for them,” Reichert told the crowd.

The August primary results generally mirrored publicly available polling data on the race, which has shown Ferguson leading Reichert in a hypothetical matchup.

Reichert and Ferguson are running to replace outgoing Gov. Jay Inslee, who opted not to seek a fourth term in office.

The 2024 general election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
