    Jackson man dies after crash with garbage truck in Scott County

    A Jackson resident died after colliding with a garbage truck Monday morning in Scott County.

    Paul Johnson, 44, of Jackson was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Express van north on Highway 25 when the vehicle collided with a 2021 Freightliner M2 SK, according to a Mississippi Highway Patrol press release.

    The Freightliner, driven by William Golden, 53, of Little Rock, Mississippi, was also driving north on Highway 25 and had slowed to collect garbage.

    Scott County sits about 40 miles east of Jackson.

    MHP responded to the two-vehicle crash at approximately 10:06 a.m. Monday morning. Johnson was pronounced dead on the scene.

    The crash remains under MHP investigation.
