Following Clemson’s scrimmage on Thursday, head coach Dabo Swinney updated the status of his team from an injury standpoint at this point in preseason camp.

Swinney said “the biggest thing is nobody got hurt” during the Tigers’ scrimmage Thursday, their second scrimmage of fall camp.

“That’s the biggest positive,” Swinney said. “Because you don’t get tough in the season. You don’t just show up – you have to get ready to play football. So this is one of those days that you’ve got to cut it loose and go play, and you hope that everybody comes through it OK, and so we did. So, I’m happy about that. That was a huge positive. And even from overall, we’re in a pretty good spot from a health standpoint.”

Swinney added that right now, the Tigers have three players – freshman offensive lineman Watson Young (torn ACL), redshirt sophomore cornerback Myles Oliver (ACL and pec) and redshirt freshman offensive lineman Ian Reed (knee) – who are out for the year.

Besides those players, Swinney said Clemson is dealing with shorter-term injuries.

“Right now, we’ve got three guys that are out for the year, and then we’ve got a few guys that I would say are just day-to-day,” Swinney said.

“But other than that, we’ve got a few guys banged up, but nobody else that’s out for the year or anything like that, or for a long period of time,” he added. “So, they’re all kind of day-to-day at this point.”
