Despite Having Yet to Visit, Clemson One of Finalists for Top 100 Prospect

Despite having yet to even visit Clemson, Tre Singleton knows enough about Brad Brownell’s program for the Tigers to be one of the finalists in his recruitment.

The 6-foot-8 forward and high school senior (Jeffersonville, IN) is currently approaching the two-dozen offer mark, naming Clemson as one of his eight finalists earlier this month.

One of the biggest things that stands out to Singleton is Brownell, and the rest of his coaching staff.

“The main thing is obviously the staff,” Singleton told The Clemson Insider. “It’s a very confident staff that clearly knows what they are doing. They’ve been known to produce players with games pretty similar to mine and get them to the next level.”

The Tigers amazing run to the Elite 8 last season is another thing that captivated the talented prospect, as he is set to take an official to Clemson the weekend of October 4.

“Obviously they had a good run and are a winning program,” he said. “Just knowing I can go there and make the tournament is a big thing.”

Last season, Singleton averaged 14.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists per contest, and he also had a strong summer on the travel ball circuit. He ranks No. 97 overall and No. 5 in the state of Indiana. Virginia, Northwestern, Butler, Xavier, Louisville, Notre Dame, and Purdue are the other finalists.

The success players like Hunter Tyson and PJ Hall had under the tutelage of Brownell has also intrigued Singleton, with the 4-star recruit seeing a lot of similarities between his game and Hall’s.

“Again, it’s pretty much the coaches,” Singleton said. “The more I talk to them, the more I get to learn what they are about. How they plan to use me. Just how confident they are sets them apart from some of the other schools.”

Singleton currently has no definitive date for making a decision but added that he’d like to announce a commitment later this year.
