A man died Sunday from injuries he sustained Friday after being beaten with a skateboard outside a Weinland Park grocery store.

Timothy Davis, 64, died Sunday at an area hospital. Columbus police said 46-year-old Adrian Ashley, whose last known address was listed as being the streets of Columbus, is charged with murder.

Around 1:50 p.m. Friday, Columbus police got a call about an assault outside the Kroger store located at 1350 N. High St. When officers arrived, they found Davis with severe head injuries.

Court records show Ashley, who was arrested nearby, had beaten Davis with a skateboard during an argument between the two men.

Davis was taken to an area hospital, but died at 12:15 p.m. Sunday from his injuries.

Ashley had initially been charged with felonious assault. He is scheduled to have his first appearance in Franklin County Municipal Court on Monday.

Columbus police said they believe there were several people at the store who may have recorded the beating as it occurred. Detectives are looking to speak to those people about what they may have seen or caught on video.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS.
