Former All-Pro RBs discuss zombies and aliens

As NFL running backs, Arian Foster and Le’Veon Bell combined to make five All-Pro teams and seven Pro Bowls. But on Friday, they took on a far more important issue than any they dealt with on the field.

Who is a greater threat to humankind, zombies or aliens?

Bell asked his X (formerly Twitter) followers that question on Friday night.

“Who do you think we stand a better chance against, zombies or aliens?” Bell asked .

The majority of responders believed that humans would have a much better chance of fighting off zombies than aliens.

That was a view shared by Foster.

“Zombies and it ain’t close,” Foster said. “Aliens mastered interstellar travel. Zombies are fuckin stupid.”

In theory, Foster is correct. In addition to the intellect (or lack thereof) that Foster speaks of, zombies are also slow. Even on foot, most humans would have no problem staying away from zombies. If we throw in other forms of transportation like cars, zombies should never get close enough to humans to harm them. Certainly, they should never get close enough to overtake humanity. Aliens, meanwhile, seem to have no problem getting around briskly.

The problem is, the game of keep-away can only last for so long. Eventually, as humans, we’re going to have to stand up and fight. Normally, being dead would be a significant obstacle to overcome in a fight. The problem — for humans, at least — is that zombies have already overcome the issue. So, even if humans can find a way to kill all zombiekind, who’s to say that the zombies won’t pop right back up and keep fighting? They’ve already done it once. Aliens, while they’d have some significant tactical advantages, could conceivably be defeated.

If the survival of humankind just depends on staying alive for a certain, set amount of time then yes, zombies are the desired opponent. But if survival depends on actually defeating the opponent, a fight against the aliens begins to feel a lot more appealing.
