A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 shut down westbound lanes Monday after a man was killed and two were injured.

Louisville Metro Police's Eighth Division responded to a report of a five-vehicle collision on westbound I-64 just before Interstate 265 at around 4:50 p.m., department spokesperson Aaron Ellis said.

According to an investigation and witness statements, a semitrailer in the middle lane collided with a pickup truck causing a reaction collision and traffic congestion.

First responders and crews from Anchorage Middletown Fire pronounced the man driving the pickup truck, later identified as 25-year-old Colton Tanner, dead at the scene. Two other adults from a separate vehicle were transported to UofL Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported and westbound lanes re-opened around 8:10 p.m., LMPD stated on X, formerly Twitter.

    The accident remains under investigation.
