    Putnam County grand jury

    2024-04-26

OTTAWA — Besides indicting a Lima man on charges related to a fatal shooting last week in Leipsic (see Thursday’s Crescent-News), a recent Putnam County grand also returned an indictment against a Melrose man following an alleged domestic incident involving a firearm.

Richard Marihugh, 26, is charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony with a firearm specification and specification for the forfeiture of a weapon; domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor; using weapons while intoxicated, a first-degree misdemeanor.

The indictment alleges that he pointed a loaded 12-guage shotgun at a female at a residence on County Road D near Continental and “stating he had a slug waiting for her.”

He also allegedly caused, or attempted to cause, physical harm to a family or household member and handled weapons with a BAC of .18.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and they are scheduled for a pretrial hearing on Tuesday in Putnam County Common Pleas Court. He was given a personal-recognizance bond with GPS monitoring.
