The 72nd Lafayette Kiwanis High School Football Jamboree closed with six more Lafayette Parish and surrounding area teams battling it out at Acadiana High School's Bill Dotson Stadium.

Kicking off the final day of jamborees in the 337 was the host team, Acadiana, taking on Breaux Bridge. Following that matchup was Cecilia vs. Comeaux and the finale was St. Martinville vs. Northside.

Hundreds of high school football fans filtered in and out of the Stadium as they got to see their team in gameday form for the first time before the 2024 season kickoffs on Sept. 5.

The Daily Advertiser has got you covered with final scores and standout players from each game played on the last day of the Kiwanis Jamboree.

    Acadiana vs. Breaux Bridge

Player of the game: Tayden Collins, running back, senior, Acadiana

The Wreckin’ Rams moved the ball with ease against the Tigers getting on the board early with a flurry of ground game attacks. One of the leaders on the ground was Collins who took a Breaux Bridge turnover for over 80 yards for a touchdown, the second score of the night for Acadiana. His breakout run gave the Wreckin’ Rams all the momentum they needed to take the dub.

“It was our plan to execute and get the job done and I feel like it went pretty good,” Collins said. “I feel like I performed pretty well but I could’ve done better. But next week, that’s what we really worried about is getting ready for next week at Ruston.”

Final score: Acadiana 28, Breaux Bridge 0

    Comeaux vs. Cecilia

Player of the game: Diesel Solari, ATH, senior, Cecilia

Solari was everywhere for the Bulldogs playing at quarterback, running back and making some tackles on defense. He did it all for Cecilia as they had their way over Comeaux, scoring touchdown after touchdown. The do-it-all athlete finished the two-quarter game with nearly 200 yards passing, three touchdowns and a two-point conversation.

“We still got work to do; it’s not finished,” Solari said. “I feel like I performed well but more average, and there’s things I want to work on. Mainly throwing is what I want to improve on, that’s it.”

Player of the game: Brent Gordon, wide receiver, senior, Cecilia

On the other end of Solari’s lethal passing game was Gordon. No matter where or when Solari connected with Gordon, he would take off for big gains. The 6-foot speedy wide receiver ended the game with over 100 yards receiving and snagged two of the Bulldogs' touchdowns.

“That connection, quarterback-receiver connection, all starts off in the offseason just getting that chemistry,” Gordon said. “Coming back from a loss in the Superdome, we gotta put in more work than what we did, and we're taking it a lot more seriously. It was hard to get over the loss but eventually, you gotta overcome.”

Final score: Cecilia 35, Comeaux 7

    Northside vs. St. Martinville

Player of the game: Khyrie Francisco, quarterback, junior, St. Martinville

There was no denying Francisco’s impact on the game with the Tigers in a dogfight with Northside. The dual-threat quarterback came through clutch in the red zone taking it himself for both of St. Martinville’s touchdowns. He ended the night with over 100 all-purpose yards leading the Tigers' offense past the Vikings for a win.

“Last year, I started strong safety and I hadn’t thrown a football in a year and a half,” Francisco said. “I just came out here and I feel I performed well for my first real game as a quarterback in the season. The pass game definitely has to get better, though, and I got to be more controlled and calm in the pocket.”

Final score: St. Martinville 14, Northside 7
