BROOKHAVEN — According to the Lincoln County Jail Docket, TyQwan L. Berry was indicted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon last week. He pleaded guilty to those charges Monday.

Berry was one of three men tried in the killing of James Braswel in 2009.

Berry was sentenced to 30 years in prison for manslaughter according to The Daily Leader in 2011. He was later placed under South Mississippi Earned Release Supervision. The man was arrested, charged and pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

District Attorney Brendon Adams said Berry was sentenced to 10 years with eight years in custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections and 2 of those years suspended. After the 8 years, Berry would be under post release supervision for 2 years and if he violates the supervision he can be “revoked for the last two years,” Adams said.

The max sentencing in the case was 10 years.
