BROOKHAVEN — Not a single member of the public showed up to a public hearing for the Lincoln County 2025 Fiscal Year Budget Tuesday morning. In August, Lincoln County Administrator Daniel Calcote announced the hearing would be held before a regularly scheduled board of supervisors meeting Tuesday.

Calcote said he had some minor adjustments for the budget he would recommend. One adjustment briefly discussed was District 5 Supervisor Doug Falvey’s budget.

Falvey plans to buy a lot of materials early in the fiscal year and Calcote explained they could adjust the budget to accommodate the purchases but it would take away from surplus funds from this current fiscal year.

Falvey said he could leave the budget as is but the District 5 expenditures will just be high the first couple of months.

District 4 Supervisor Eli Ferguson asked why 75 percent of his payroll came from the road fund and 25 percent was paid for out of his bridge fund. Calcote said it was how the payroll was paid for as long as he had been the county administrator.

“To me it is cleaner to have it all come out of one fund. I would rather mine come out of the bridge fund,” Ferguson said.

Calcote said they could adjust it in the budget by moving around a few line items.

Falvey and District 1 Supervisor Jerry Wilson left their payroll to be paid for by 75 percent out of their road fund and 25 percent out of their bridge fund. District 3 Supervisor John David Hart, District 2 Supervisor Keith Lewis and Ferguson requested their payroll to be fully paid out of their bridge fund.

Lincoln County Board of Supervisors decided to wait until their next board meeting onl Sept. 16 to approve the final budget.
