COLDWATER — Thursday evening ends the fifth season of Hops on Monroe, the city’s popular summer street party.

Starting as COVID-19 began to restrict attendance, crowds grew to enjoy the music, food trucks, tables, and games that filled closed-off Monroe Street Between U.S.12 and Pearl from 5 to 9 p.m.

You can take adult beverages purchased at local bars on the streets around the Downtown Social District.

City Manager Keith Baker said there was a large crowd last week. “The weather looks good as it was last week, so we expect a great turnout.”

With bad weather last Friday, Two Bandits canceled its Petrol and Pints car, bikes, and vehicles cruise in. That is rescheduled on South Hanchett this Friday night from 5 to 9 p.m.

    September events

Baker said the September events taking place downtown include the annual Apple Fest on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The art, crafts, and community event extends from Four Corners Park south along U.S. 12, down South Monroe Street, and along South Hanchett Street.  Over 200 vendors will be along the streets and into the Tibbits Plaza parking lot.

The September downtown events end Friday, Sept. 27, with the fifth annual Hoptober Fest on the closed-off Monroe Street.

This is the only street party restricted for those 21 and over. Baker said there is a $5 admission fee.

The Broadway Grille will serve Michigan Craft Beer from regional breweries.

Jay Fox and the “Jammin’ Germans” Band and Tänzer Dance Troupe will return from Fort Wayne to provide entertainment.

Food trucks will serve a range of German and standard fare with fall-themed desserts.
