Week One of the 2024 prep football season here in Branch County starts today, with games featuring five teams from the Branch County area competing under the Thursday night lights, with another playing on the road Friday.

On the docket tonight is the 99 ^th meeting between the Coldwater Cardinals and longtime rival Sturgis as the red and white travel to Trojan country for the season opener. The Daily Reporter’s sister paper, the Sturgis Journal, will be at the game live covering the event for all of us.

Also, on the schedule for tonight will be the Union City Chargers making the trip to take on perennial power Centreville. The Daily Reporter will be attending this contest so look for updates on all social media for that matchup featuring the Bulldogs and Chargers.

Score stream will also provide scores for Quincy’s trip to Loy Norrix, Athens home opener versus Burr Oak, and Tekonsha’s trip to Bellevue here on Thursday, as well as Bronson’s trek to Prairie Heights on Friday.
