    Lemon Bay High School seniors recognized

    ENGLEWOOD — Lemon Bay High School recently presented awards and scholarships to the Class of 2024.

    More than 600 seniors were recognized for their dedication and diligence.

    Principal Robert Murphy kicked off the ceremony by thanking parents and families for attending to recognize the hard work of their children.

    “Whether a senior is receiving one award or multiple scholarships, the students recognized here tonight have had an impact on staff, students and the parents of Lemon Bay as well as the residents of the Englewood community,” Murphy said.

    He pointed out Career Resource Counselor Teresa Dailey for her work with the ceremony.

    Several local community organizations around the Englewood area chipped in to recognize seniors by providing checks for them to use for college or vocational programs.

    The Rotonda Elkettes along with the Englewood Elks Lodge donated upwards of $18,000 in scholarships to: Nathan Galynsky; Aaliyah Passeneau; Ashton Barrington; Eric Maddens; Curtis Vasher; Logan Kelly; Emily Szaflarski and Alaynna Harms.

    The Vern and Florence Martin Living Trust Scholarship, a combined $9,500, went to: Hunter Andres; Riley Gamber; Cody Mayes; Brianna Swanson; Brooke Wade; Leanna Ward; Aydan Wear; Tee’Aunna Williams; Emmie Wisell; Chloe Yacyk; Gabriella Howell; Valery Kajatt; Jordan Mancuso; Antonia Melone; Jerrett Powers and Nolan Yusk.

    Senior Athlete of the Year presented by Tom and Donna Catanzarite went to Isabella Ragazzone and Owen Tannehill.

    The Lemon Bay Woman’s Club combined $6,000 in scholarships went to: Emerson Adams; McKenzie Brown; Alaynna Harms and Isabelle Ragazzone

    The Kids Needs perpetual Fund For Education Scholarship was in honor of Marcia Louden along with The Kids Needs of Greater Englewood Florida Incorporated Scholarship provided a total of $11,000 to: Franchesca Torrez; Cora Bradigan; Angel Carmel; Sarah Creech; Jadecia Forrest; Ambar Herde De Los Santos; Peyton Mason; Peyton Mazza; Mariana Troshuk and Cadence Zalopany

    The Englewood Chamber of Commerce provided a total of $4,000 to Eric Maddens, Addison Morey, Kassidie Skidmore and Caleb Whitmore.

    The George F. Dignam Scholarship and The Tom and Annette Dignam Family Trust Scholarship presented a combined $7,000 to: Shantal De Los Santos; Savannah Grannan; Logan Kelly; MacKenzie McDowall; Curtis Vasher; Mackenzie Vaughan and Aydan Wearl

    Rita Bertler and Mary Jones with Dollars For Mammograms recognized MacKenzie McDowall for $1,500 in memory of Diana Puckett.

    The Englewood Lemon Bay Sunrise Rotary, the Englewood Elementary Scholarship Fund, Ryon D. Provencher Memorial Fund, and Rotonda Men’s Golf Association Scholarship gave out dozens of scholarships to seniors at Lemon Bay High School.

    Jennifer Ragazzone presented the National Honor Society Stoles to: President Isabelle Ragazzone; Vice President Madeleine Googins; Secretary Brady Kern and Treasurer Peyton Mason

    Teresa Dailey presented the Sliver and Gold Community Service Cords to more than 40 students, and Outstanding Community Service Awards went to Brooke Hutchinson and Addison Morey.

    Murphy thanked Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Gulf Coast Community Foundation, The Selby Foundation, Charlotte County Community Foundation and Collaboratory Foundation for their generosity.

    “We are proud of all seniors receiving awards and scholarships,” Murphy said. “Your hard work and initiative toward the award and scholarship process is recognized and congratulated.”
