Government offices, facilities closed for Memorial Day

Many local, state and federal government offices and facilities will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day:

CHARLOTTE COUNTY

Charlotte County government business offices, libraries, transit and other facilities will be closed.

The Utilities Department (water and sewer) customer service will be closed. Bills can be paid at www.CharlotteCountyFL.gov or by calling 941-764-4300. Standby staff will be on call for utility emergencies at 941-764-4300.

Most recreation centers and county pools will also be closed, except the following, which will be open: Cerbone Skate Park, South County Rec Center will be open 8 a.m.-8 p.m. and the pool there will be open 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

Garbage collection: Curbside collection will occur as scheduled. The county landfill on Zemel Road will be open. The county’s transfer stations on Veterans Boulevard and Gulfstream Boulevard will be closed.

SARASOTA COUNTY

Sarasota County Government offices, including libraries and administrative offices, will be closed. This includes the office of the Clerk of Court, Tax Collector and other constitutional offices.

The Breeze 77 Siesta Islander, Breeze 76 Flyer and OnDemand services will operate under normal hours.

Garbage collection: Curbside collection will occur as scheduled in unincorporated Sarasota County. Disposal operations at the Central County Landfill at 4000 Knights Trail Road and the Citizens’ Convenience Center at 4010 Knights Trail Road, Nokomis, are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

DESOTO COUNTY

All DeSoto County and Arcadia government offices, the library and facilities will be closed.

Garbage collection: There will be no garbage picked up Monday.

CITY OF NORTH PORT

All North Port city government offices will be closed Monday.

Garbage collection: Curbside collection will occur as scheduled.

CITY OF PUNTA GORDA

All Punta Gorda city government offices will be closed Monday.

Garbage collection: Curbside collection will occur as scheduled.
