    Fire at Wally's BBQ was small, quickly contained

    PORT CHARLOTTE — Charlotte County Firefighters responded to a Saturday morning fire at a barbecue restaurant.

    The fire was reported at 8:22 a.m. at Wally's Southern Style BBQ, 3591 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte.

    Firefighters discovered a small grease fire in the kitchen area, said Todd Dunn, spokesperson for Charlotte County Fire & EMS.

    They were able to get the fire under control quickly. The flames did not make it to the attic, he said.

    Wally's management could not be reached for comment Saturday.
