PORT CHARLOTTE — Goodwill Manasota recently opened a new attended donation center in Port Charlotte.

The facility is at 1061 El Jobean Road, across the road from Port Charlotte Town Center mall. It was previously the Town Center Car Wash Express, according to a news release.

The donation center is intended to support Goodwill’s mission services, according to information provided by the nonprofit.

Donations brought to the donation center are sold in Goodwill retail stores, it stated. Revenues from the stores support Goodwill’s efforts to provide employment and other programs and services “to strengthen communities through the power of work.”

The center provides “a convenient option for residents to donate gently-used goods, and maximize retail revenues in support of its mission services,” according to a press release.

“The community’s support is critical to the work we do: 2,400 donations enable us to create one full-time job, many which are filled by individuals with barriers to employment who may be overlooked elsewhere,” Goodwill Manasota President/CEO Donn Githens stated in the news release.

The new center is in territory that Goodwill Manasota acquired from Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida Goodwill in 2023. The area includes donation centers and retail stores in Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto, Hardee, and portions of Lee and northwest Charlotte counties.
