It's a transition season in volleyball as eight of the 12 First and Second All- County selections from last season have graduated.

Lenawee Christian, which went to the Division 4 state semifinal and won three-straight Lenawee County Championships, graduated the bulk of its starting lineup.

On the bench: Adrian, Clinton, Morenci and Onsted all have new head coaches.

Here's a look at what's to come for the 2024-25 volleyball season:

    ADDISON

Head coach : Barbara Brown, 3rd season

    2023 finish : District champions

2024 District : Division 3, District 84: Clinton, Hudson, Napoleon, Onsted, Sand Creek

Outlook : The Panthers return the coach of the year in Barbara Brown and the player of the year in Molly Brown, but the supporting cast will look quite different as Lexi Patterson, Laci Patterson, Izzy Durkee and Kate Huston all graduated. Addison will need the role players to step into starting spots and the newcomers to become reliable role players.

    ADRIAN

Head coach : Margaret Timmis, 1st season

    2023 finish : District finalist

2024 District : Division 2, District 50 at Tecumseh: Dundee, Milan, Madison, Tecumseh

Outlook : While Timmis is leading the Maples, taking over for longtime head coach Kerry Davis, she is no stranger to the area. Timmis played and coached at Blissfield and was head coach of Clinton for the last two seasons. She adopts an Adrian team which graduated a bulk of the lineup, but does return Second-Team All-County member Ella Salenbien.

    BLISSFIELD

Head coach : Annica Miller, 3rd season

    2023 finish : District opener

2024 District : Division 3, District 85 at Whiteford: Ann Arbor Greenhills, Erie Mason, Monroe SMCC, Ypsilanti Arbor Prep

Outlook : The Royals had an incredible run in 2022, dominating to the LCAA title, but last season had to find their rhythm after graduating a few key members. Senior Peyton Tennant will bring the experience to the lineup while Blissfield hopes the inexperienced group grows fast and will compete in the LCAA.

    BRITTON DEERFIELD

Head coach : Ella Nighswander, 3rd season

    2023 finish : District semifinalist

2024 District : Division 4, District 120 at Morenci: Lenawee Christian, Morenci, Pittsford, Summerfield, Waldron

Outlook : Senior Kyra Nighswander will bring the experience for the Patriots in her sister's third season as head coach. BD will look to try and climb up the TCC standings as it hopes the struggles from the first two season turns into experience.

    CLINTON

Head coach : Kia Rainey, 1st season

    2023 finish : District opener

2024 District : Division 3, District 84 at Napoleon: Addison, Hudson, Napoleon, Onsted, Sand Creek

Outlook : The former Madison standout libero and Hudson assistant coach is now leading the Redwolves after Timmis left to take the Adrian job. Rainey's Clinton team has senior First Team All-County selection Kaylee Kranz back as it looks to compete in the always tough LCAA.

    HUDSON

Head coach : Kilee Bailey, 4th season

    2023 finish : District opener

2024 District : Division 3, District 84 at Napoleon: Addison, Clinton, Napoleon, Onsted, Sand Creek

Outlook : After enjoying tremendous runs led by Callie Bauer, Keely Hinzman and Lauren Hill, the Tigers were young last season and struggled with only a handful of wins. Hudson is hoping the inexperience from last season became more experienced and gets back to its winning ways.

    LENAWEE CHRISTIAN

Head coach : Tenille Marowelli, 2nd season

    2023 finish : Division 4 state semifinalist

2024 District : Division 4, District 120 at Morenci: Britton Deerfield, Morenci, Pittsford, Summerfield, Waldron

Outlook : It's going to be a new look Cougars group as they revamp the lineup after graduating a strong group of seniors from last season. LCS will enjoy some stability as Marowelli returns for her second season after the Cougars had a different head coach each of the last three years.

    MADISON

Head coach : Heather Lanning, 4th season

    2023 finish : District opener

2024 District : Division 2, District 50 at Tecumseh: Adrian, Dundee, Milan, Tecumseh

Outlook : Yet another team with a big new group as four All-County members graduated from last year's starting lineup. However, the Trojans always seem to reload instead of rebuild so they should be looked at as a threat in the LCAA until proven otherwise.

    MORENCI

Head coach : Alyssa Malburg, 1st season

    2023 finish : District opener

2024 District : Division 4, District 120 at Morenci: Britton Deerfield, Lenawee Christian, Pittsford, Summerfield, Waldron

Outlook : The Bulldogs will have a young team this season with one returning starter from last year in Colbie Ekins.

    ONSTED

Head coach : Taylor Hutchinson, 1st season

    2023 finish : District semifinalist

2024 District : Division 3, District 84 at Napoleon: Addison, Clinton, Hudson, Napoleon, Sand Creek

Outlook : Onsted graduate Hutchinson takes over the program after going through a couple rebuilding seasons after a great group of seniors graduated after the 2021 season. The Wildcats do not have any returning all-county members, but does have some experience returning as they hope to get back toward the top of the LCAA.

    SAND CREEK

Head coach : Melissa Griewahn, 3rd season

    2023 finish : District semifinalist

2024 District : Division 3, District 84 at Napoleon: Addison, Clinton, Hudson, Napoleon, Onsted

Outlook : The Aggies return a lot from last season, including three seniors who were all-county honorable mentions, Carley Allen, Maddie Osburn and Hailey Bennett. Sand Creek will look to compete to be one of the top teams in the TCC.

    TECUMSEH

Head coach : Morgan Skelton, 4th season

    2023 finish : District opener

2024 District : Division 2, District 50 at home: Adrian, Dundee, Milan, Madison

Outlook : Junior Emma Eldred will look to lead one of the more experienced groups in the county this season. Alongside Eldred is senior Alli Zajac and junior Chloe Bullinger as Tecumseh will look to compete for the SEC White title and more this season.
