    Lenawee County sports from Aug. 26-31

    Boys swimming and football joins the rest of the Lenawee County fall sports as the 2024 gets fully underway this week.

    Local athletes battled high temps as well as their opponents, here's how the week of Aug. 26-31 turned out:

    MONDAY

    Boys Soccer

    Clinton 6, Hillsdale 2

    CLINTON — The Redwolves got the week started strong by winning their LCAA opener.

    Jimmy Schaffner had two goals while Mattis Riddle, Brodie Stipe, Griffin Bowers and Samson Schaffner all had single goals. Riddle, Stipe, Bryce Poley, Broden Manchester and Jax Speth all had assists.

    Onsted 6, Dundee 3

    DUNDEE — The Wildcats opened LCAA play with their first win since 2022 as they beat newly formed Vikings squad.

    Cole Gilbert, Brix Bumpus and Beltran Galvez each scored in the win.

    Jackson 6, Adrian 2

    JACKSON — The Mapels dropped their SEC White opener, falling on the road to the Vikings.

    Nathan Wojcik had a goal and an assist while Ares Marchetti had the other goal and Gary Kemerer made 18 saves.

    Chelsea 4, Tecumseh 0

    CHELSEA — Tecumseh battled with SEC White foe Chelsea and fell to the Bulldogs in the league opener.

    Tecumseh is 1-5-1 on the season.

    Ida 5, Blissfield 2

    BLISSFIELD — The Royals fell to 0-3 on the season, dropping their LCAA opener against the Bluestreaks.

    Girls Golf

    LCAA Jamboree at Hillsdale

    Clinton got the LCAA slate started strong, winning the first jamboree of the season at Baws Bees Country Club with a round of 225.

    Hudson was second at 249 followed by Onsted (269), Hillsdale (274), Madison (275) and Lenawee Christian (286), which is competing in LCAA nine-hole events only.

    Kaylie Livingston led Clinton with a 52 to take second overall while Breanna Broman shot a 53, Kierra Fivenson shot a 57 and Meghan Gilroy shot a 63.

    LCS' Brielle Parker was the medalist with a 48.

    Adrian at Tecumseh Invite

    The Maples won the Tecumseh Invite by shooting a round of 405 followed by Monroe's 441, Temperance Bedford's 446 and Tecumseh's 520.

    Cassidy Hawken was the medalist 93, Megan Schutte shot a 103, Ryan Kominek carded a 104 and teammates Grace Smart and Madison Thomas each shot 105.

    Volleyball

    Whiteford 3, Blissfield 0

    OTTAWA LAKE — The Royals fell to the Bobcats in non-league play, 27-25, 25-22, 25-20.

    Blissfield is 1-4 on the season.
