    Denver weather: 3rd warmest start to a summer on record continues into Monday

    The third hottest start to a summer on record for Denver has taken place in 2024.

    With the average temperature between June 1 to Aug. 17 being 74.9 degrees, as reported by Meteorologist Chris Bianchi at Denver Gazette's media partner station 9News, and Monday's high will continue the very warm trend ahead of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

    Denver residents can expect a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. It'll be partly sunny with a high near 89, and a south southwest wind to blow around 6 mph, becoming calm throughout the morning.

    "Thunderstorms are likely this afternoon and early evening across much of the forecast area," the NWS said. "Some thunderstorms may be severe over the plains with large hail greater than an inch the main threat."

    For Monday night a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11 p.m., is forecast. It'll be cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 63. South southwest wind around 7 mph.

    Here is the 4-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

    Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 94. South southwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm.

    Wednesday: A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming west southwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph.

    Thursday: A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87.

    Friday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90.
