    Lorimor man arrested after man with gunshot wounds drives himself to Creston hospital

    A Lorimor man has been arrested after a man was treated for multiple gunshot wounds after driving himself to the hospital Thursday morning.

    According to a news release from the Iowa Department of Public Safety , Creston police were dispatched to the northwestern corner of the town after gunshots were reported at 7:37 a.m.

    While en route, Greater Regional Health, the hospital in Creston, notified police of an adult male being treated for multiple gunshot wounds. He drove himself to the hospital, Creston Police Department said in a Facebook post .

    The man was treated at the hospital but airlifted to a Des Moines hospital for additional treatment. According to the release, he is expected to recover. His name has not been released.

    The hospital and other local businesses were temporarily placed in lockdown while the area was secured by police.

    At 2:30 p.m., Creston police and agents from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation arrested Daniel McDowell, 22, of Lorimor. He is facing one count of attempted murder and probation violation.

    McDowell is currently being held at the Union County Jail in Creston.
