    First responders recover body found in Des Moines River

    People fishing in Pleasant Hill on Thursday found a body floating in the Des Moines River.

    Pleasant Hill first responders were dispatched to the Southeast Vandalia Drive boat ramp regarding a report of a body in the river at around 7 p.m., according to city spokesperson Candace Bell. Rescue teams were able to remove it Thursday evening.

    The body is a white male, approximately 6 feet tall and 250 pounds. Police are working to identify him.
