    Iowa State football: Jack Trice Stadium parking, bag policies and rules for 2024 season

    Iowa State football 's 2024 season kicks off on Aug. 31 against North Dakota, the first of seven Cyclones home games at Jack Trice Stadium this fall.

    Jack Trice Stadium parking

    Parking lots open about six hours before kickoff but not earlier than 6 a.m., according to the ISU website .

    Specific parking areas located north and east of Jack Trice Stadium are reserved for Cyclone Club members only. General public parking is located in the grass areas south of Jack Trice Stadium along South 16th Street.

    Parking on city streets or the road shoulder of city streets is not permitted, and those in violation could be subject to being towed or a $40 fine in the neighborhoods surrounding the stadium. Areas around Jack Trice Stadium have a special parking ordinance on game days, which increase fines for parking in restricted areas .

    Downloading the official Iowa State Athletics app allows users to have easy access to their mobile tickets and parking passes, which can also be added to your device's mobile wallet.

    General public RV parking may be available at the Haunted Forest lot that is north and east of the stadium.

    Jack Trice Stadium bag policy

    You are allowed to bring a clear bag into Jack Trice Stadium that meets these requirements, according to the ISU website:

    • Plastic, vinyl, or PVC clear totes that do not exceed 12x6x12 inches and do not have a logo larger than 4.5x3.5 inches;
    • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (i.e. Ziploc or similar);
    • Small clutch bags no larger than 6x9inches
    • Exceptions will be made for bags containing items required for medical, family, or child care.

    Permitted bag items:

    • One unopened water bottle up to 20oz per person
    • Items required for medical, family or child care needs
    • Backless cushions less than 16 inches

    Prohibited items:

    • Coolers or containers
    • Backpacks, fanny packs, large purses (larger than 6x9 inches)
    • Cameras, video cameras
    • Pets (unless a service animal)
    • Umbrellas
    • Strollers
    • Weapons
    • Alcoholic beverages
    • Food and beverages
    • Smoking or vaping
    • Beach balls
    • Toilet tissue
    • Artificial noisemakers
    • Seat cushions (with a back larger than 16 inches or with a zipper/pocket/compartment)

    Iowa State football tailgating rules

    Listed below are the tailgating rules from the ISU website:

    • Limit your tailgating to your ONE parking space – ONE parking space per pass will be strictly enforced.
    • Tents can be no larger than 10' x 10’.
    • DO NOT block the path for other vehicles to park or to access the lots and parking stalls.
    • No glass bottles, kegs or open fires are allowed in parking lots.
    • No tailgating from elevated surfaces (vehicle beds, roofs, trailers).
    • No professional sound equipment, DJ booth, etc., without prior written approval from ISU Athletics. Speakers that can stand alone or are connected to an amplifier are prohibited. Small "boom boxes" are permitted but the sound cannot extend past your tailgate area (70 decibels).
    • Remember to clean up your area and dispose of trash before departing.
    • Please be considerate and respectful of others.
    • All patrons who are under 21 years of age are strictly prohibited from using alcoholic beverage on university property. The use of alcohol on university property or property controlled by Iowa State University is only allowed in accordance with federal, state and local laws and in accordance with Iowa State University Policy. Beer and wine are allowed in parking areas. State law prohibits hard liquor consumption or possession of an opened bottle of hard liquor on public property, which includes Iowa State University parking lots.
    • The use of alcohol in areas surrounding Jack Trice Stadium and Hilton Coliseum is only permitted on official Iowa State football game days; by all patrons who are 21 years of age; and in accordance with state and local law.  Alcohol use may be restricted at the discretion of Iowa State leadership, the Department of Athletics, ISUPD officers or local law enforcement.

    Jack Trice Stadium is located at 1800 Jack Trice Way, Ames, IA 50011.

    It is located off of Route 30, taking exit 146 onto University Boulevard.
