Today is the 2024 Woodward Dream Cruise — an event that attracts around 1 million car enthusiasts to the metro Detroit area, for better or for worse. Some of the festivities have already started earlier this week and yesterday, but today is when the cruise actually happens on Woodward Avenue from Ferndale to Pontiac.

📰 News: Detroit judge Kenneth King was set to teach two courses in the fall 2024 semester at Wayne State University. 🗳️ Politics: Vice President Kamala Harris has greater support among Black voters in Michigan than President Joe Biden did as the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, a new poll indicates. Also, presidential candidate Cornel West has been disqualified from appearing on the ballot in Michigan over a technical violation.

🏈 Football: Connor Stalions, who was thrust into the spotlight last October as the center of Michigan football's sign-stealing scandal, landed a new gig at Detroit Mumford High School as its defensive coordinator.

🎤 Entertainment: When we arrived in Detroit, my fellow intern, Carmela Guaglianone, noticed that karaoke seemed especially popular. Now, she's got the reporting to back it up — and she found there's karaoke every night of the week in Detroit and Hamtramck.

On a personal note, this will be my last newsletter for the Free Press. My summer internship has come to an end, but I'm incredibly thankful for the opportunity to have gotten to know Detroit a bit better over the past 10 weeks. If you've read any of the newsletters I've had the privilege to anchor, or liked any of the social media content I've made, thank you so much! It's been an honor. — Diamy
