Brush Park condos with rooftop terraces, views of Detroit's skyline hit the market

Two brand-new luxury condominiums, built atop an existing seven-car garage in Detroit’s Historic Brush Park neighborhood, have hit the market at $675,000 each. These elegant units offer open-air living with spacious private rooftop terraces and stunning views of Detroit’s skyline.

The project was spearheaded by Detroit-based engineer Gary Parker, 36, and Detroit native Stefan Gailliard, 34, of DAG Construction . Their work contributes to the ongoing wave of new construction and rehabilitation efforts revitalizing Brush Park in recent years.

Reflecting on the project, Parker said, “We’re not a corporate entity that came together to build. It’s just a couple of Detroit kids joining forces, each bringing their own talents to create something cool.”

Located at 262 Mack Ave., units 10 and 11 are situated behind the James Place Lofts Development, located across from the Detroit Medical Center , Wayne State University , and Whole Foods Market. The condos are not far from Midtown , Detroit’s entertainment district offering world-class cultural institutions, museums, and galleries; the Central Business District, Eastern Market , and various restaurants.

The idea for the project came about as Parker and Gailliard were wrapping up a previous venture. Parker noticed that the airspace above an existing garage was available and saw an opportunity. Initially hesitant, Gailliard became convinced of the project’s potential after Parker shared his vision, leading Gailliard to draft a design quickly.

“When two people who are doers come together, great things happen,” Gailliard remarked. “If it wasn’t for Gary coming up with the idea, finding the property, and me getting on board, we wouldn’t be on this venture now.”

The condos are co-listed by Andre Abney of Match Realty in Detroit and Andrew Huckleby of Signature Sotheby’s International Realty in Birmingham.

"I couldn't be prouder of my friends Gary and Stefan for creating such an outstanding project.” Abney said. “It's an honor that they chose me to help sell this incredible property in such a historic neighborhood."

As you walk up to the first level of these 1,400-square-foot condos , which include a one-car garage in a gated area, you’ll find a mudroom area featuring a bench and a custom-built 9-foot glass and steel door that opens to a bright living space featuring Red Oak whitewashed hardwood floors and floor to ceiling Juliet windows, flooding the area with natural light.

The open layout includes a living room; a kitchen with waterfall quartz countertops and a penny tile backsplash; and a dining area. The bedroom offers another Juliet window, and the full bathroom has a waterfall showerhead and body sprayers. A storage room/laundry room is also available on this level.

Gailliard, who has built homes in Madison Heights and Royal Oak, and refurbished houses in Detroit, says his creativity fuels his designs. He highlighted the steel rack with glass shelves above the countertop, which he personally welded, as well as the custom glass and steel door and kitchen cabinets he crafted. “We produce in-house,” Gailliard says.

The second level is designed for entertainment with a kitchenette, a half bath, and a storage closet. A door leads to a 350-square-foot bricked-in rooftop terrace equipped with rubber pavers made from recycled tires, a pergola, a covered space, and a gas line for a grill.

“It all centers around the rooftop … that was the key for both of us,” Parker noted. The rooftop terrace is a large, inviting space that excites people, so we just needed to build a quality home around it — and that’s what we did.”

Brush Park , located just north of downtown and east of Woodward Avenue, is a neighborhood where new upscale townhomes, condos and contemporary buildings coexist alongside historic Victorian structures.
