An Essex man is facing a 60-day prison stint and/or a $500 fine for yelling at police officers repeatedly.

A police officer identified only as T. Kent in court documents stopped a gray Honda in Essex after not using a left turn signal when turning left. Terez Antonio Raymond Gaskin at first refused to provide his license and registration to the police officer, but eventually relented, according to the court documents.

When the officer ran Gaskin’s name through the MVA database he found that Gaskin only had a learner’s permit and the person sitting next to Gaskin didn’t have a license, police say. The officer called for a tow truck.

As Gaskin and his passenger collected their things from the car, according to the police report, they started yelling “obscenities” at Kent and three other police officers. An officer identified as Officer Haddix, documents say, told them to keep their voice down “due to them causing a loud disturbance.”

Then an “unknown female” joined in the yelling. An officer identified as Cpl. Foehrkolb told them “several times” that their yelling was causing neighbors to get out of their houses and take videos.

“You are causing a disturbance, please be quiet, you’re disturbing my peace,” a neighbor yelled back, according to the documents.

Foehrkolb escorted the woman and Gaskin away from the stop and warned them again, police say. A bit later, Gaskin’s passenger and Gaskin gathered the rest of their things and continued to yell “obscenities” again.

Foehrkolb, court documents say, told them he would arrest them if they continued to yell. The two continued yelling, “calling the officer various names and cursing for all the neighbors to hear.” Foehrkolb then arrested them.

Gaskin is also facing four separate traffic cases, one for refusing to display his license to a uniformed police officer while driving on a highway, which carries a $50 fee according to case information posted online, one for driving without an adult with a drivers license, which carries a $290 fee, one for not giving a hand signal when turning left, which carries a $90 fine, and one for not displaying the car's registration card, which carries a $50 fine.

When a reporter called Gaskin’s phone number as written in court documents, they got a message saying that the caller was not accepting calls at this time. The Baltimore County Police Department said it does not comment on cases pending in court.
