A unique property for sale near Hueco Tanks is causing a stir on social media for its vast desert landscape, magnificent mountain views, and remote location — perfect for someone who may want to live off the grid, but stay near El Paso.

Listed at nearly $400,000 , the property encompasses 200 acres of land on 7190 Buffalo Road, just east of Hueco Tanks State Park.

Aerial photographs highlight stunning mountain ranges towering over what some on social media speculated to be bunker-like structures. However, according to Chasity Rosales, the property's real estate listing agent, these are a mobile home, ranch house, barn, and shop.

The desert oasis is being sold by a retired sergeant major who fell in love with the land more than two decades ago, Rosales said. It was listed for sale on May 2.

"I was in awe of the beauty of it," Rosales said. "You see these types of properties in places like Arizona, Utah, even Ohio."

Trails loop throughout, and some, Rosales said, were used by stagecoaches traveling around the region hundreds of years ago. As for those majestic mountains, Rosales said the property does include some of the land heading up the hills, but most of the slopes, including the ridge, are owned by a nearby Native American tribe.

When looking at a map, some land near Hueco Tanks appears to belong to the Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo.

Since the land is isolated, there is no water or gas — those utilities must be brought in — but there is electricity. Shaded patios surround a 1500-square-foot mobile home, but Rosales said the land is priceless.

When pricing the property, Rosales said some other nearby commercial land has been sold, but it's the first time she's sold hundreds of acres of land with a residential dwelling. She thinks it could be a place of limitless possibilities for an investor passionate about the Southwest.

"It really has the potential for someone that can really invest and develop something great in El Paso," she said.
