Another celebrity was spotted filming in the borderland region, just weeks after production wrapped up in El Paso on another film with A-list actors Benicio Del Toro and Leonardo Dicaprio .

"Dark Knight" and "Runaway Train" actor Eric Roberts was in Las Cruces a few weeks ago shooting a sci-fi movie — the film titled '3,' said Andrew Jara, film liaison with Film Las Cruces .

Most of the film was shot in June, Jara said and follows a man who discovers he only has three days to live.

The cast includes the Oscar nominee, joined by "Blue Bloods" actress Anna Grace Barlow , and "Finding Carter" star Caleb Ruminer , Jara said.

Film Las Cruces worked on the movie and is an organization that helps bring productions to the area by offering tax credits and reimbursement incentives, according to its website .

"We are always looking at all kinds of productions big and small," Jara said. 'We love, of course, when we get Eric Roberts, but we're also excited when we get to help local filmmakers as well. But hopefully, we get some more big names very soon."

While movie productions help put local spots on the map, they also boost the economy, Jara said.

"It brings in jobs of all kinds," he said. "Not just production jobs, but also catering, rentals, living accommodations. So, it's great whenever a film comes into the region because it helps bring in economic development."

The film is not the first starring Roberts shot in Las Cruces; the actor starred in " Santa's Cousin," which was set in New Mexico and will be released in December 2024.

Movie stars have been spotted working in front of the camera in other parts of the region this year.

Texas native Matthew McConaughey was seen driving around Ruidoso in April for the production of "The Lost Bus," just weeks before the South Fork and Salt Fires ripped through the village.

The actor then shared an In s tagram post promoting help to Ruidoso by sharing a donation link.

In July, Del Toro and Dicaprio were seen dining at an El Paso restaurant and enjoying a baseball game while shooting an untitled film dubbed “BC Project” directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. The movie is set to be released in August 2025.
