Purdue’s eleventh Day of Giving will take place this Wednesday April 24.

Amber Turner, the Associate Vice President for Broad Based Campaigns and Strategic Engagement at Purdue Research Foundation said there will be over 70 participating colleges, schools, and programs to donate to, along with 270 athletic or student organizations.

“We have strong participation from many different groups, faculty and staff, retirees, students, parents, alumni or people that are just friends or fans of the university,” Turner said.

The day will be full of social media campaigns and donation-based challenges. A student rally and fun run around campus will be held on Memorial Mall from 1-4 p.m.

There will be various free food stations including doughnuts, hotdogs, pretzels, and the local Igloo Frozen Custard shop will have a setup. The College of Veterinary Medecine’s student association will also be there, and some labradors, beagles, and other pets will be at the Memorial Mall.

It is open to students, faculty, and the people of Lafayette and West Lafayette

“I think one of my favorite moments was when (it was) 3 a.m. I answered a phone call and it was a donor whose wife had passed away. He was looking for a way to honor her memory and her legacy at Purdue,” Turner said. “To see their passion and how they want to elevate their footprint, it’s just such a point of pride for me.”

Purdue’s Day of Giving website will be updated live throughout the day and over $250,000 in bonus funds will be on the table for donors as an incentive to give.

Donors are recommended to share a themed message on why they made a donation whilst tagging Purdue, and the committee will be choosing the best picks.
