Purdue vet school tech charged with theft
A 28-year-old former Purdue Veterinary School Pharmacy technician has been charged with the theft of 14 15-mg codeine pills from the pharmacy in March. A probable cause affidavit filed last week says Alana K. Williams of West Lafayette, whose job included distributing various controlled medications from a cabinet run by a computer with fingerprint and log-in access, stole the pills from the cabinet. These prescriptions were to be taken to other veterinary hospitals.
Craft coffee and rappers
Not many people would expect death metal and rap concerts to be held at a coffee shop, but that is exactly what happens at the Eleventh House. Eleventh House is a coffee house and growing live music venue located at 116 N. 3rd St., Lafayette. They focus on making craft coffee and cultivating a safe all-ages space for youth to enjoy live music.
Steve-O to perform at Long Center
Steve-O, the 49-year-old comedian who first achieved fame for his stunts in the early 2000s, will bring his standup act to Lafayette in August. The Long Center will host Steve-O, whose given name is Stephen Glover, on August 17. The show is only for ages 18+. An online presale starts Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the sale resumes Thursday morning.
Life and legacy at the Indiana Veterans' Home
Contrary to some staff members of the Indiana Veteran's Home in West Lafayette feeling the facility is looked down upon by the public, to the point of being "villainized," admissions counselor Megan Schultz describes the home — the only facility of its kind in the state — with the words “Family, Gratitude, Honor and Home.”
Juvenile detention center coming to Lafayette
The construction of a new juvenile detention center was accepted by the Tippecanoe county commissioners on Monday morning. Police say W.L.H.S. bomb threat appears to be false
Students and faculty were evacuated from West Lafayette Junior/Senior High School after authorities received a call notifying them of a bomb threat around 7:30 a.m. Monday. “We had all our units along with Purdue and sheriff’s department deputies respond. They are currently clearing the school right now with two bomb dogs to make sure it is not a legitimate threat,” WLPD Chief Troy Harris said around 9 a.m. "We have about 25 to 30 officers in the school searching right now.”
