Coach Greg Goff makes a trip to the mound to talk with starting pitcher Kyle Iwinski on Saturday. Iwinski pitched 1 and 2/3 innings on Saturday, giving up five runs – four of them earned – on five hits and three walks while striking out two. He did not get a decision during Illinois 18-10 win.

In the series and regular-season finale, Purdue and Illinois battled on which team could score the most runs in a single inning on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately for the Boilermakers (33-22, 13-11), it was regular-season Big Ten champions Illinois (33-17, 18-6) that had the biggest inning by scoring 8 runs in the 6th inning on its way to an 18-10 routing at Alexander Field.
