    Fayetteville employee killed after driving ATV into fence

    A city employee was killed Thursday morning after the all-terrain vehicle the worker was driving ran into a fence at Fisher Road and Lakeway Drive, a news release said.

    According to the Fayetteville Police Department, the Fayetteville employee was collecting trash on the ATV when the vehicle "left the roadway and crashed through a fence." Officers responded to the scene at about 6:24 a.m. The fence is near John R. Griffin Middle and Honeycutt Elementary schools.

    The driver, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
