The Chair City's new pocket park is officially open to the public.

Maki Park, so named because it is located on the site of the former Maki Building on Parker Street downtown, is a three-tiered space that can be used for outdoor dining and live music performances.

The park also features game tables and permanent cornhole boards.

A pocket park is defined as a small-scale site designed to provide a safe and inviting environment in urban settings.

The $376,635 project to convert the location into a park was partially paid for from the city's free cash account in the amount of $180,000. The remainder of the funding came from the city's American Rescue Plan Act funds.
