A southern red oak located near Main Street has called Dayton home for over 100 years. With the opening of BlueCross Healthy Place at Pendergrass Park, the city is employing an arborist to evaluate the historic oak located at the edge of the parking area. DPD lands new trailer for DUI checkpoints
The Dayton Police Department recently procured a trailer through the Tennessee Highway Safety Office for use in transporting equipment for DUI checkpoints, according to Dayton Police Department Officer Bobby Huffman. DAYTON — Recipients of the 2023-24 Reba Arnold Fitzgerald (RAF) Education Scholarship are sophomore Madeline Walls of Dayton and freshman Kayla Posey of Hixson, Tenn. Both are elementary education majors at Bryan College. The RAF scholarship began in 2022 as a legacy to honor longtime Rhea County teacher Reba Fitzgerald. The music department at Rhea Central Elementary School would like to invite the community to watch the play Disney’s ‘101 Dalmatians Kids.’ The play is directed by Charity Westervelt and assisted by Phyllis Bloxson. State unemployment rate near historic low
NASHVILLE — Tennessee’s statewide unemployment rate dropped for the second consecutive month in March, according to new data from the Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
