HOLLAND — More work is expected at LG Energy Solution in Holland, as the company renovates its original 240,000-square-foot building.

The company filed an application with Holland City Council for a new PA-198 tax abatement for the proposed renovation off 146th Avenue near I-196, opened in 2010.

The project would introduce new technology and increase production capacity, for a total investment of $81,898,076.

It would be the third construction project in the works at LG. The company is currently finishing its second facility, a $1.7 billion investment. Mass production is expected to begin there in 2025. Another $2.5 billion project is currently in the planning stages.

A public hearing is scheduled for the latest request at 6 p.m. on June 5 at Holland City Hall. Should everything go according to plan, upgrades and modifications to the building would begin in late 2024.

“We look forward to our continued partnership with the city of Holland and remain focused on a greener future by transforming the automotive industry as a leading global manufacturer of batteries for elective vehicles," the company wrote in a statement.
