Free family-friendly entertainment: Fun Fest returns to downtown Massillon

MASSILLON – The 27th annual Fun Fest drew crowds of folks downtown for much of Saturday.

A sunny day with lower humidity, along with temperatures in the mid-70s, was appreciated by Massillon resident Darena Garrett, who brought her two children, Maddie, 11, and Tosh, 8, to the event.

"It's a really fun time for the kids. We like to listen to the music and bands while walking around," said Garrett, who's been coming to Fun Fest for the past few years.

Much of the free event took place on the lawn at the Massillon Museum , 121 Lincoln Way E, in addition to Duncan Plaza and along First Street SE. The Massillon Government & Justice Center parking lot was full of police and fire department displays, kids' games, crafts and a bounce house.

MCTV , the museum and the Downtown Massillon Association were the primary sponsors of the annual event, which also involved dozens of area civic groups, churches, as well as safety forces and government organizations.

The family-focused festival had myriad live music shows, dance performances, gymnastic displays and other entertainment on the Duncan Plaza stage.

Tosh said he likes the games and bounce house the most at the Fun Fest.
