There’s one word to describe Lunette: inconsistent. This Ferry Building Cambodian food stall—from the people behind the beloved and now closed Nyum Bai —opened with high expectations. Unfortunately, the bland kuy teav phnom penh can only be saved by three heaping spoonfuls of chili sauce on one of the few red tables. And the mee kola egg noodles have no chance at salvation—they are as dry as the Sahara. Still, there are some glimmers of hope. The yellow curi is rich and creamy, and the loc lak shaking beef is tender and served with a lip-puckering lime dipping sauce. Both dishes remind us of why we loved Nyum Bai and the potential of what this restaurant could be. Proceed with caution for now, but, we’ll be back soon to see if they figure out the kinks.
