    Signature Bar

Signature is definitely a neighborhood sports bar—at least five TVs are visible from any seat, and there are hit-or-miss snacks like wings, short rib nachos, and chicken tenders. But Signature sets itself apart from other bars in the South Loop with faux-marble tables, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit covers (they’re black-and-white and framed, so it’s classy, ok?) lining the bathroom walls, and “upscale” food options like black truffle deviled eggs, lobster rolls with gari remoulade, and NY strip steak. It’s an eclectic mix, but this shouldn’t come as a surprise since Signature is a joint venture involving the chef behind S.K.Y and Valhalla , two places with equally hard-to-categorize food.

But what is surprising are the small portions and sometimes underwhelming food. The miso glazed salmon is salty and on the verge of being overcooked, while the soppressata focaccia pizza is tasty despite sagging under the weight of too much cheese. So whether you’re here for strong drinks after the Bears blow another late lead, or dinner after a game of pickleball at the Roosevelt courts, your best move is to get the signature burger. This hefty, double-patty smashburger comes topped with caramelized onions, gooey cheese, and yuzu pickles with a mild and sweet briny flavor—and it’s the best thing on the menu.
