Seattle's Most Exciting Fall Restaurant Openings

When something is labeled as “new and exciting,” there’s always a chance that it can be a letdown. Remember when Seattle was promised a new and exciting tourist attraction and then a selfie museum came to town? So when we say that we’re excited about these upcoming fall openings, we don't say that lightly. Our list of the most promising spots includes an all-day cafe from the Saint Bread team, a Capitol Hill outpost of a Portland donut shop, and a popular pop-up turned walk-up window in the Central District . All you have to do is alert the group chat and tell them you heard it here first.

THE SPOTS

Bonito Café Y Mercadito

Opening: September 14th

With drinks like horchata chai, cafe de olla, and a passionfruit blackberry concha, this Capitol Hill coffee shop (and small market) is already piquing our interest.

Amin

Opening: September

A popular pop-up operation is getting a permanent walk-up window in the Central District . Amin will serve dishes from regions like the Middle East and Southeast Asia, and recent pop-up menus have included red curry roasted chicken topped with Thai basil cashew cream, jackfruit cake, and a lamb sausage pita.

Stitch Cafe

Opening: September

Attention knitters, crocheters, and coffee lovers—this spot is for you. Stitch Cafe will be a place on Capitol Hill where you can caffeinate while working on your latest knitting project, and hang out with folks who are doing the same. The cafe will provide yarn, fiber arts lessons, and general craft-fueled camaraderie.

The Wayland Mill

Opening: October

The team behind some of our favorite pizza , breakfast sandwiches , and BBQ dishes is opening an all-day, Japanese-influenced spot in Wallingford with dishes like biscuits and miso-chashu gravy or a loaded club sandwich using shokupan.

Moto

Opening: Fall

This Detroit-style pizzeria has locations in West Seattle , Belltown , and T-Mobile Park . But now the Eastside is getting in on the action with an outpost on the first floor of Bellevue Square Mall. The real question: Will the smells of bubbling cheese and yeasty crust beat out the strong smell of a mall pretzel? There's only one way to find out.

Black Coffee Northwest

Opening: Fall

This coffee shop and community space was unfortunately forced out of its original Shoreline location. But now Black Coffee Northwest is coming to the Central District on the corner of 23rd and Jackson. Ironically, the space used to be a Starbucks, but we’ll take their drinks (made with Boon Boona beans) over a pumpkin-spiced Frappuccino any day.

Hayati Mezze & Sweets

Opening: Fall

A second Montana location is taking over the former La Dive space on Queen Anne . You can expect tasty picklebacks, whiskey sours on tap, and all the usual drinks Montana is known for, but the food will be a new concept from Yalla. The menu has Middle Eastern dishes like fava bean falafel, herby Lebanese fried potatoes, and manoushe with rotating toppings.

Exit 5 Korean BBQ

Opening: Fall

This Korean BBQ spot has a location in Renton and is expanding north to Ballard. Expect dishes like corn cheese, japchae, and of course, a whole bunch of tabletop grilled meats.

Capitale Pizza

Opening: Fall

The same folks behind La Fontana Siciliana have taken over the former Boca location on Capitol Hill for a new restaurant that focuses on pizza . Not much has been revealed about the space or food, only a teaser on the website that says “authentic Italian flavors, warm hospitality”—sounds good to us.

Voodoo Doughnuts

Opening: Fall

If you've been curious about why a building on Pine got a bright pink paint job, you have Voodoo Doughnuts to thank. This quirky donut shop from Portland is opening its first Seattle location on Capitol Hill. And if you thought the lines at the OG outpost in PDX were bad, we’re guessing that this place is going to be packed when it first opens.

Peyrassol West

Opening: Fall

The husband and wife team behind the now-closed-but-fond-in-our-memory Peyrassol Cafe are opening a new spot in Normandy Park. The small location will be a wine bar with Mediterranean-inspired small plates and some charcuterie—because every wine bar should have charcuterie.
