Baggett inducted in AISA Hall of Fame

The Alabama Independent School Association recognized the education legacy of Crenshaw Christian Academy Headmaster, Becky Baggett, honoring her contributions to the association by inducting her into its Hall of Fame.

Baggett, who launched her career as an administrator at Ashford Academy more than 20 years ago, credits her time there with giving her a solid foundation in school administration.

“It is a privilege to be a part of the AISA,” Baggett said. “It has been my pleasure to serve on the AISA State Board for the last twelve years. I would like to thank the board of trustees at Ashford Academy over twenty years ago for having the confidence in me to be their headmaster. That is where I got my start in the AISA, as an administrator.

“It saddened my heart several years after I left that they closed after an administrator stole money from the school. I will always have a special place in my heart for the many people from Ashford Academy and am thankful to still have them as dear friends.”

Valorie Crowe Stroud, a 1992 graduate of Brantley High School and CCA’s Assistant Headmaster, praised Baggett for her contributions and leadership, adding that Baggett’s actions clearly define AISA’s goals.

“I am immensely proud to call Headmaster Baggett my friend and mentor,” Stroud said. “She is a godly example to us all, and I thank her for all she has done for our school and community.”

Baggett attributed the school’s success to the collaborative efforts of teachers, staff, students, and the community. She expressed her gratitude to everyone who has contributed to CCA’s achievements.”

The headmaster said her success would not have been possible without other educators who poured their knowledge and support into her through the years.

“It is a great honor to be selected for the AISA Hall of Fame,” Baggett said. “It is also very humbling to join such an elite group of people. Crenshaw Christian Academy has had three others inducted: Mr. John Milton Wise Sr., Theresa Johnson, and Angela Carpenter. I am very proud to call each of them my friend and to join them in the Hall of Fame. I believe that the people I have had the privilege of working with over the years also deserve this award. I am just the quarterback calling the plays and they are the players that have made things happen.”

Baggett highlighted the significance of AISA’s efforts in fostering character development through granting awards.

A native of Troy, Baggett has been an educator for 48 years. She enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, fishing, and raising cows and chickens.

Also inducted into the AISA Hall of Fame was John D. Harrison.
