The Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands manages more than 640,000 acres of public-reserved land across Maine, and with the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, the Bureau of Parks and Lands has issued some public land alerts that they want the public to be aware of for Memorial Day weekend.

Nahmakanta public land which is a 43,000-acre wooded preserve offering hiking trails, a lake, fishing spots, campsites, and wildlife in Millinocket, is not accessible due to the effects of the winter and spring storms in Maine.

Tumbledown in Franklin County will remain open for day use, but camping will remain closed. Rangers continue to patrol and issue summonses for illegal camping and fire activity on the mountain. The closure to camping was put into place to protect the fragile subalpine vegetation and pond after ongoing litter and damage.

If you are interested in making camping reservations for Maine state parks and public lands, you can reserve your camping spot online at campwithme.com you can also make reservations at the Maine Campground Owner's Association
