    Man Arrested in Cushing, Maine Death Case; Investigation Continues

    On Friday, July 12, 2024, and Saturday, July 13, 2024, the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Central was investigating a death in Cushing, Maine. According to Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer of the Maine Department of Public Safety, the detectives and evidence response technicians were at 834 River Road on July 12th and 13th, processing the scene and conducting interviews.

    The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta will be performing an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of death and positively identify the victim.

    Mark Gagne, 41, of Cushing, was arrested and transported to the Knox County Jail on Friday, July 12, 2024, and has been charged with hindering apprehension and abuse of a corpse. Gagne is expected to make his first court appearance on Monday, July 15, 2024.

    The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in this investigation. This investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released when it’s appropriate to do so.
