Marion resident shares love for pets, wants new business to be 'go-to' neighborhood store

Pet Supplies Plus has opened a store at 1609 Marion-Mt Gilead Road, Marion.

The store offers natural pet foods and amenities such as a full-service grooming salon, self-serve wash stations and carry-out service in which team members carry heavy items to customers' cars.

The store is owned by Gail Fetter, who has spent the past two decades operating a debt consultation firm. However, her lifelong dream of opening a pet store became a reality when she opened a store in Marysville; her second Pet Supplies Plus is in Marion.

Animals hold a central place in Fetter's life, from her cherished doodle, Charllotte, to her menagerie of goats, chickens, cats, hedgehogs and a lizard. Fetter's husband is a participant in AKC beagle trials, boasting three field championships.

Adoption events, pet food drives will be held

Pet Supplies Plus will work alongside local animal shelters, rescue organizations and nonprofits to host year-round adoption events, fundraisers and pet food and product drives.

"I am deeply committed to animal welfare, organizing monthly adoption events and regularly housing up to four cats in my store," Fetter said in a news release. "I want to be the go-to neighborhood pet store in this amazing community, promoting responsible pet ownership and fostering community engagement."

To welcome the community to the Pet Supplies Plus in Marion, Fetter will hold a grand opening event Sept. 14-15 with prize giveaways, opportunities to win gift cards plus complimentary nail trims for dogs and free pet washes with proof of rabies vaccination on Sept. 14.

Pet Supplies Plus Marion will be 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
