Director Shawn Levy has debunked rumors that Taylor Swift was set to make a cameo in Marvel Cinematic Universe's Deadpool and Wolverine. The speculation about the 34-year-old pop star's involvement in the Marvel film had been rife in the lead-up to its release.

Rumors swirled that Taylor might make a cameo in the film as Dazzler . Taylor is close friends with Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, and his wife Blake Lively. Additionally, Ryan posted a selfie that got Swifties talking. He posed in the woods with his back facing the camera, similarly to how Taylor poses in her Evermore cover while wearing his Deadpool costume.

However, Levy has since denied that was ever a possibility.

He told Variety: "That was one of the loudest rumors that came out of nowhere. It was never true. Thank you, internet, for building such a smokescreen of rumors and half-truths so that no one ever knew what was going to happen."

Despite Swift not making an appearance, her best friend Blake Lively, who is also the wife of Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, did have a cameo as Ladypool, albeit with her mask on throughout her scenes.

When asked if Lively, 36, might reprise the role in future films, Levy hinted at the possibility but stressed that 'Deadpool and Wolverine' was not intended as a "setup to anything". He elaborated: "We never discussed taking off her mask. So there's always the future ... It's definitely not a promise."

"We also wanted this to be a standalone movie that leaves everything possible but serves no next movie. It is not a setup to anything, so we'll see what happens."

Fans were ecstatic to spot Channing Tatum taking on the role of Gambit, an opportunity the 44-year-old actor had been circling since the character was under Fox's X-Men umbrella.

Director Shawn Levy shared his excitement about Tatum's casting: "I am obsessed with Channing as Gambit in this movie. What went into this, first and foremost, is a decade of Channing wanting to play this part and a decade of Channing almost playing this part at Fox."

In reflecting on the long journey, Levy added, "I know this personally because back in those years, I was one of 25 different directors who met with Channing about directing the Fox 'Gambit' movie, and yet it never quite happened." He expressed deep satisfaction by stating, "So when we decided to have Gambit in this movie, we knew it would be deeply gratifying for Channing."
