Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings 'at risk of being replaced' as spin-off host announced

The coveted Jeopardy! host might be changing once again.

Ken Jennings is reportedly at risk of losing his job to Colin Jost after the comedian was tapped to host Pop Culture Jeopardy! . The star, known best for his gig on Saturday Night Live, will be calling the shots on the Jeopardy! stage for the latest Amazon Prime project. However, this means that a new, big name is suddenly entering the Jeopardy! universe.

After a stunning 74-match run, Ken became an easy pick to host the OG game show. Originally, he shared hosting duties with Mayim Bialik. However, she was shafted from the show following some controversial remarks and a desire from Sony to head in a different direction.

However, a source indicated to The Sun that, if the ratings allow, Colin could find himself given an opportunity to step into the main nightly, syndicated show. The insider said: "Knowing the leadership at Sony Pictures TV, the last reason they would fire Ken Jennings is because of on-air mistakes. It's not a live show; it's taped well in advance, and therefore, mistakes are just as much, if not more, the producer's and writers' responsibility as they are Ken's."

They added: "Instead, the only real reason to replace Ken is if the ratings took a nosedive, and that hasn't happened yet. The show is holding steady."

Ken isn't locked into a longterm contract, meaning the producers can shakeup his position at any time. In fact, a source even said that the lack of extensive contract means that Sony isn't yet sold-out him as a the perfect successor to the late Alex Trebek. The insider added: "If they truly had 100% confidence in Ken, they would tap him for their primetime and celebrity editions, which they have decidedly not done, but Ken is still finding his groove on the syndicated version of the show and Sony is letting him become the de facto face of the franchise - for now."

While the network is still making their decision, the industry and fans are currently loving him. After all, he did snag second Emmy for Best Game Show Host recently.
