Jenna Ortega takes aim at the "touchy-feely" acting industry after her co-star Melissa Barrera was fired from the Scream franchise.

After her fellow horror star Melissa was axed from Scream 7 over her controversial Israel-Palestine social media posts, Jenna quit one day later citing scheduling conflicts with Netflix's Wednesday series. And as her former co-star faced fierce backlash online accusing her of being anti-Semitic which led to her being dropped by her publicist, Jenna has finally spoken out on the controversy.

During a new interview with Vanity Fair , Jenna criticized acting industry for creating an environment that forces celebrities to remain silent on polarizing political issues. The outspoken 21-year-old actress told the news outlet: "The business that we work in is so touchy-feely. Everybody wants to be politically correct, but I feel like, in doing that, we lose a lot of our humanity and integrity because it lacks honesty."

She continued: "I wish that we had a better sense of conversation. Imagine if everyone could say what they felt and not be judged for it and, if anything, it sparked some sort of debate, not an argument." She then titled her head and joked: "Am I describing world peace?”

This comes as her former co-star Melissa was "dropped" from the cast of Scream 7 after the actress's posts about the Israel-Hamas conflict on social media including one post accusing Israel of "genocide and ethnic cleansing." And while Spyglass Media Group denied accusations their decision was related to the posts, they did confirm that she was let go from the upcoming movie.

In Scream 7, Melissa was set to star as Sam Carpenter who played Tara's older sister in the famous horror movie franchise. This comes after the on-screen sister duo previously captivated audiences in Scream 6 as they fearlessly defeated Ghostface after his bloody rampage in New York City. Now that the pair have left the film, it has yet to be revealed who will be taking on the two lead roles alongside actors Courtney Cox, Patrick Dempsey, Roger Jackson, and Neve Campbell.
